The Seattle Seahawks’ defense, particularly their secondary have nicknamed themselves as The Legion of Boom. While it’s kind of cheesy to give yourself a nickname, the team backed it up by having the number one overall defense in the league for 2013. Seattle’s defense was sick all year, taking the ball away at will and shutting down offenses all over the league.

On the 49ers final offensive possession, Richard Sherman broke up a pass from Colin Kaepernick intended for WR Michael Crabtree, which resulted in an interception in the endzone and sealed the victory for the Seahawks. The Seahawks took over at the 20 yard line and kneeled it out to punch their ticket to Super Bowl XLVIII. Sherman was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the interception after confronting Crabtree following the play. Minutes later he was being interviewed by Fox’s Erin Andrews and he unleashed the crazy beast on her by screaming.

"“I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you gonna get.” – Richard Sherman"

The immediate backlash from fans on Sherman’s angry short rant was hilarious to me. The same people that spend the entire game tweeting the harshest insults and quips they can think of to try and get enough retweets to validate the fact that they’re spending more time looking at their Twitter timeline than the actual game were going overboard lambasting Richard Sherman for being hyped and overzealous in a post-game interview as if he had just punched Andrews in the face or something.
