Calgary Flames place Mike Cammalleri on IR

The Calgary Flames have been struggling to find the back of the net over the past few weeks and things got worse on Monday, when the team announced that they have decided to place the veteran left winger on injured reserve with a concussion.

Cammalleri was the Flames leading scoring this season with 13 goals. Calgary has just nine goals in their last seven games.

Tonight’s match up with the San Jose Sharks will be the fifth consecutive game for Calgary without Cammalleri in the line up.

There is no official timetable for his return, but the team cannot welcome him back soon enough.

Calgary was recently involved in some trade rumors surrounding Cammalleri, so it will be interesting to see whether or not he gets traded before the deadline if he is healthy enough to return.
