Gesicki is the nation’s No. 5 tight end recruit and the No. 213 recruit overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings and had been committed to Penn State since Oct. 17, but following the departure of Bill O’Brien to the Houston Texans there were whispers he could decommit.
The 6-5, 235-pound tight end chose the Nittany Lions over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes staff continued to recruit him despite his commitment, but there is no doubt with signing day a little more than two weeks away where Gesicki will be for the next three-five years.
This is the second year in a row the Nittany Lions have landed one of the nation’s top tight ends as Adam Breneman is a rising sophomore at Happy Valley after coming to Penn State as the No. 2 ranked tight end recruit in the class of 2013.
