MLB Rumors: Red Sox attend Chone Figgins workout

There was a time when Chone Figgins was a relatively elite weapon in the Major Leagues.

Of course, that was nearly a decade ago. Since then, Figgins has scuffled which eventually lead to him playing outside of the MLB – but he’s looking to change that. Figgins and his agent put together a workout where nine interested teams attended, one of them being the Boston Red Sox.

Turns out the Red Sox did watch Chone Figgins’ workout in Tampa last week.

Figgins isn’t likely to get anything more than a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training, so it’s understandable why some teams are showing interest in the utility man. Few players can play as many positions as Figgins (who can play both infield and outfield).

The veteran reportedly took both infield and outfield practice, took batting practice and also ran 60-yard dashes to show off his speed.

There’s no word as to what other teams were in attendance with the Red Sox.
