New England Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib is set to become a free agent in March, which means the Patriots may need to open up their checkbook if they want to keep their top cornerback on the roster.

While Talib has been slowed down by injuries, he remains when of the top corners in the league when healthy and his presence in the Patriots defensive backfield is a huge boost.

With free agency looming, ESPN Boston is reporting that there is mutual interest between the Patriots and Talib, which is obviously a good sign for those who are hoping to see him back with the organization next year.

At just 28 years old, Talib still has plenty of football left to play and he has deserved a big deal.

There is no doubt that the Patriots will have competition when it comes to re-signing Talib, but if the mutual interest is there they will find a way to get the deal done.
