NFL Rumors: Browns interested in Jim Tomsula for head coach?

With the San Francisco 49ers eliminated from the playoffs, teams still in need of a head coach will have free reign upon the 49ers coaching staff – that is – assuming San Francisco allows such.

One such name who has heard his name swirl through the rumor mill is 49ers defensive line coach, Jim Tomsula. Tomsula has already interviewed for the Minnesota Vikings head coaching job (along with 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman) and according to Bill Williamson, the Cleveland Browns could have interest in the veteran coach.

According to source #Browns did background work on #49ers D-line coach Jim Tomsula last week. Potentially could become candidate.

Tomsula has been the defensive line coach in San Francisco for seven seasons and served as their interim head coach for a single game after Mike Singletary was fired in 2010.

Of course, it should be noted that it’s just potential interest according to Williamson but considering how rough the Browns search for a head coach as been, it doesn’t seem all that shocking to see them interested in Tomsula.

While the Browns are looking at the 49ers, how can they possibly look past Greg Roman? Is he not the offensive genius behind all of Jim Harbaugh’s success?

I would take him as a Defensive coordinator, but not a head coach
