The past weekend in Tuscaloosa was a big recruiting weekend for the Alabama Crimson Tide as Nick Saban did the Electric Slide, Lane Kiffin sang ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and five-star recruit Matt Elam (Elizabethtown, Ken. John Hardin) got to take a spin in Saban’s Mercedes.

Elam, one of the biggest recruits left on the board, literally and figuratively, at 6-5, 372-pounds took his official visit to Alabama this weekend two weeks after delaying his college decision which was supposed to happen on Jan. 4 at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and is down to the in-state Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama.
He previously took his official visit to Kentucky on Dec. 13, but I’m not sure if Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops took him for a spin in a Mercedes or not.
Elam is scheduled to announce his decision between Alabama where he would be an ideal fit as a nose tackle in their 3-4 defense or to Kentucky where he would join Drew Barker as the lynchpin’s to Stoop’s 2014 recruiting class.
Elam ranks as the nation’s No. 170 recruit and the No. 15 defensive tackle in the class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
