Shane Bowman decommits from OSU, going to Washington instead

Bellevue High School defensive end Shane Bowman will be staying close to home in college, announcing on Monday that he’s decommitted from Oregon State University and will instead go to the University of Washington.

Butch Goncharoff, Bowman’s coach at Bellevue, had this to say about 6-foot-4, 242-pound defender:

I’ve said it before but I think Shane is one of the biggest steals out there. I think the kid can play. I know he’s going to do the work, that’s the thing. Shane will work hard. I think what you see is him getting better every year and I think he has a chance to be really. I’m kind of stunned that it took this long, in some ways, for schools to hop on. I know people look at him and is he an inside guy, an outside guy? I just know he can play football. We’ve had a lot of good ones, and he’s one of them (Washington Prep Sports).

As The Seattle Times points out, Bowman is Washington’s 12th recruit in the Class of 2014.
