Former Florida Gators cornerback Jaylen Watkins played in the shadow of his highly-publicized teammates and fellow cornerbacks, Marcus Roberson and Loucheiz Purifoy during his time in Gainesville, but he is moving out of their shadow this week in Mobile, Al. at the Senior Bowl.
His two aforementioned teammates found themselves on preseason All-Sec and even some All-American teams, but after Roberson was injured and then inconsistent for much of the season and Purifoy is still learning the nuances of the position, Watkins is finally getting the recognition he has been long-deserved.
Here is a sampling of the tweets from assorted media who saw the Gators corner dominate the competition today. He could be among the biggest risers on team’s NFL draft boards with a big game on Saturday because of his ability to play both safety and corner.
Florida CB Jaylen Watkins has lived around the ball today. Give me him over the other two Gator corners.
