Former Texas DC Manny Diaz headed to Louisiana Tech for same position

Former Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has apparently found himself another gig as he’ll be headed to Louisiana Tech to head up that defensive unit, according to CBS’ Bruce Feldman.

Diaz was the defensive coordinator in Austin for less than three seasons. He was hired by Mack Brown prior to the 2011 season, coming over from Mississippi State. However, very early on in September of this past season, Diaz was removed from his position after the defensive unit’s horrid performance in a loss to the BYU Cougars, a loss in which the ‘Horns’ defense gave up a jaw-dropping 550 yards rushing.

After Diaz was fired, Greg Robinson took over the Texas defense and you could see a vast improvement as the team came within one game of winning the Big 12 Championship, showing that Diaz may in fact have been part of the problem.
