The Central Florida Knights continue to ride the wave from their 12-1 season, which included an AAC championship and a victory over the Baylor Bears in the Fiesta Bowl.
On Tuesday, they received a commitment from junior college defensive tackle Lance McDowdell.
“The other schools, it was a blast, but UCF, they caught my attention,” McDowdell told Ryan Bass of 24/7 Sports. “It was like, why not go there? The academic program is tremendous and they’re a top 10 school.
McDowdell attends Nassau Community College and is from Mount Vernon High School in Garden City, New York.
The 6’5, 302-pounder is considered a three-star according to 24/7′s composite rankings, but is viewed as a four-star by the network itself and has an impressive list of offers, including the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers.
“My plans are to come in and kick some [expletive],” McDowdell said, laughing. “That’s my plans, though. I’m going to be serious, my plans are to come in and make a mark for myself. You know, make a mark and set a trend for my home town. I want to let them know there’s not just a future for basketball in my home town, but for football, too.”
