It appears we are nearing a resolution to the soap opera that has been the Masahiro Tanaka sweepstakes.
Obviously, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt as we’ve seen a lot of incorrect information on Tanaka in recent days and weeks, though the report does make some sense.
We’ve learned recently that Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays are out on the 25-year-old pitcher and the Dodgers, Diamondbacks and White Sox have seemingly been passed by the Cubs who are reportedly willing to overbid any team.
The Yankees interest in Tanaka is well known and it’s likely they and the Cubs (with the exception of possibly the Dodgers) can afford to pay the sinkerball pitcher the most moving forward.
A decision is expected in the next day or two, if not sooner.
