The Los Angeles Dodgers will open their season abroad this year as they and fellow National League West foe, the Arizona Diamondbacks, will kick off Major League Baseball’s season by partaking in an intentional match in Australia.
Stewart said he doesn’t think Kemp will be ready for 3/22 opener in Australia. “If the season opened April 1, I think Matt would be ready.”
The Dodgers will Team Australia and two games against the Diamondbacks while down under before returning home for the annual ‘Freeway Series’ which is still considered Spring Training. After that, the Dodgers will make their way to San Diego where they’ll play the Padres in their United States opener.
Personally, looking at that travel schedule, I’d twist my ankle just to avoid it. Yikes.
Certainly going to be a rough few weeks as the Dodgers don’t play their home opener until April 4th – over two weeks after they leave for Australia.
