Note Dame deal with Under Armour largest in college sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are making the switch from adidas after 16 years to Under Armour. It will last 10 years and will be the largest in college sports according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. Currently, Michigan’s $8.2 million-per-year contract with Adidas is the most lucrative in college athletics so the number has to be north of that. It also includes some Under Armour stock as well, an interesting little throw-in.

“We have been very happy with Adidas,” Irish athletic director Jack Swarbrick told ESPN in December. “But it is just good business to use the expiration of a contract to review all options.”

It appears they found a better option.
