The inaugural MLS Caribbean Combine has paid off for Surinamese striker Stefano Rijssel, who has been picked 17th in the third round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Seattle Sounders on Tuesday. Rijssel joined Trinidad & Tobago side W Connection in July 2012 and played in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage with the club.

The league invited Rijssel to the Caribbean Combine in Antigua in early January and was one of two players invited to the MLS Player Combine in Florida following an impressive performance.

“Stefano is a young player that we all saw at the MLS Combine,” said Sounders assistant coach and scout Kurt Schmid, a son of Sounders manager Sigi Schmid, to reporters. “He showed good tactical sense as well as physical qualities. He can play wide in midfield but also has some versatility.”

Here are the final draft results from all four rounds.
