Trevor Booker has been one of the bright spots of the 2013-2014 season for the Washington Wizards, but the 26-year-old power forward went down with an ankle injury on Saturday that already caused him to miss a full game in Washington’s 8-point win over Philly on Monday night. Now, there is some optimism surrounding Booker’s potential return, but his status is far from set in stone for Tuesday night.

According to the official Twitter account of the Wizards, Booker took part in portions of the team’s shootaround on Tuesday morning, and with that, he’s been listed as a game-time decision for the game. His availability would be big for Washington, as the 20-20 Wizards host a Celtics team that they should be able to defeat on their home floor, especially with Boston having Rajon Rondo on a “pitch count” for the 3rd straight game.

Booker is averaging a modest 6.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season, but when you factor in his relative lack of playing time (21.4 minutes per game), those numbers jump to 11.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per 36 minutes, illustrating just how effective he can be. His strong-willed interior game has allowed him to produce a very solid PER of 16.21 (league-average is 15), and without him, the Wizards’ depth would be weakened considerably inside.
