Winter X Games 2014: Shaun White to compete in slopestyle and SuperPipe

It was just last week that snowboarding star Shaun White announced that he would be skipping the Winter X Games in Aspen, but now he has changed his tune. X Games organizers confirmed Tuesday that White will be participating in the slopestyle and SuperPipe events.

White could be using the X Games as a tune up for next month, when he competes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Olympics. The snowboarding slopestyle will be making its debut in Sochi. He will also compete in the halfpipe at the Winter Games.

White is a eight-time SuperPipe and five-time Slopestyle gold medalist, so he is the strong favorite to once again top the podium in Aspen.

Coverage for the Winter X Games begins Thursday on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET.
