The New York Jets are looking at releasing Mark Sanchez and ending the drama filled era in which he occupied a roster spot for the team. But while the Jets and their fans are tired of having Sanchez underperform for them, one NFL coach has a very different opinion of the former fifth overall draft pick.

An unnamed NFL coach spoke with the New York Post stated that Sanchez would be his team’s starter the instant he walked through their door.

"One coach of a quarterback-needy team said his team already has discussed Sanchez internally as an option to be its starting quarterback in 2014. “We’d take Sanchez,” the coach said. “He’d be the starter as soon as he walked in the door for us.”"

The key phrase there is ‘quarterback-needy’, as it appears that’s the only type of team that would take a chance on Sanchez given his body of work with the Jets. While it seems like a compliment that a coach would say Sanchez is a starter on his roster, that likely say less about Sanchez and even less about the roster he’d be joining.

Still, there seems to be a market for the quarterback, which may prompt the Jets to try and trade Sanchez before just cutting him loose.
