The Miami Dolphins are currently looking for a new general manager, and that’s a search that will continue after the team lost out on Jason Licht. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Licht yesterday to become their next general manager, but according to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Dolphins did their best to make sure that didn’t happen.
Rapoport reports that Miami made a run at Licht after learning the Buccaneers were interested in hiring him.

This sort of feels like someone leaning over and cheating off of another kid’s exam. Rapoport’s report that the Dolphins tried to hire Licht after learning of interest in Tampa Bay seems to suggest that the Dolphins may have wanted him just because they heard he was a hot candidate for another job.
Miami will need to find a good replacement for Jeff Ireland, as another bad hire at GM could further cripple an already broken Dolphins organization.
