The Orlando Magic are one of the youngest teams in the NBA – especially in regards to their core players. They’re likely to get younger come the 2014 NBA Draft as they’ll be looking at youthful players like Andrew Wiggins, who according to ESPN’s Chad Ford, has intrigued the Magic front office.
That puts both Dante Exum and Marcus Smart in play here. But sources say the Magic are intrigued by Wiggins. He hasn’t been dominant the way several other freshmen have been, but the athletic tools are all there and lately (with the exception of that Oklahoma State game) he’s been much more aggressive on offense. An Oladipo-Wiggins backcourt might be the most athletic in the NBA.
It’s hard to imagine the Magic drafting either Exum or Smart as a top two player (assuming they don’t fall in the draft standings), though it’s a little shocking to see the Magic like Wiggins over fellow Kansas teammate Joel Embiid.
Of course, with five months left until the 2014 NBA Draft – much can happen. But for now, it appears Wiggins is atop their big board.
