We had already learned opera singer Renee Fleming will perform the National Anthem and Bruno Mars will perform in the halftime show with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Super Bowl XLVIII, but now we know who will be taking the stage to kick off the festivities for the Super Bowl pre-game show.
The league announced on Wednesday that American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips and The Band Perry will be performing.
Phillips had a quadruple-platinum single, “Home,” in 2012, while The Band Perry has a quadruple-platinum song of their own, “If I Die Young.”
In addition to the performances by Phillips and The Band Perry during the Super Bowl pre-game show, the cast of the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical Jersey Boys and the cast of the musical Rock of Ages will perform at the NFL Tailgate Party.
With the close proximity to New York City, it would only make sense for the NFL to bring Broadway to East Rutherford, New Jersey for the big game.
The pregame show and Super Bowl XLVIII will be broadcast worldwide.
