Three-star wide receiver Xavier Hawkins took an official visit to the Oregon State Beavers over the weekend.
Apparently, Hawkins saw all he needed to see.
On Tuesday, the 5’9, 171-pound Hawkins committed to the Beavers.
Hawkins got an offer from the Beavers before the college football season came to an end and looked like a Beaver-lock from then on. Hawkins attends Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. While at Fulton, he played wide receiver, defensive back and helped return kicks on special teams, but he projects as a wide receiver in college.
Hawkins is considered the country’s 172nd best wide receiver, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
WBIR.com has more on Hawkins.
Hawkins was a major contributor to Fulton’s record setting offense and back-to-back state championships.
The 5’8″ speedster was a versatile playmaker for Fulton, catching passes, rushing out of the wildcat and returning kicks and punts. Hawkins accounted for 2,329 all-purpose yards and 37 touchdowns during his senior year and was named the Offensive MVP of the 2013 Blue Cross Bowl.
Hawkins chose the Beavers over Austin Peay, Campbell, Chattanooga and Tennessee-Martin.
