Next month perennial contender, Urijah Faber, will fight in his 19th professional title bout. At UFC 169, Urijah will take on Renan Barao in a rematch for the undisputed UFC Bantamweight title. This will be Urijah’s third shot at the Bantamweight belt inside the UFC, and likely his last chance to become a UFC champion.
Long before Urijah dreamed of becoming a UFC world champion, he began the camp that bred him into the fighter and man he is today. Urijah Faber, along with Dustin Akbari, started the Team Alpha male camp in order for Urijah to pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts. Now, 10 years later, Team Alpha Male is littered with established super stars, and young up and coming prospects. Team Alpha Male includes Chad Mendes, TJ Dillashaw, Danny Castillo, Chris Holdsworth, and Andre Fili just to name a few. With the addition of head trainer, Duane Ludwig, late in 2012, Team Alpha Male had its most successful year in 2013.
In preparation of Urijah’s UFC 169 title bout, the UFC brought a production team to Team Alpha Male and taped an intriguing short about the history of the team. Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes, Danny Castillo, and Dustin Akbari are featured in the video which you can watch below.
