The UFC 168 main event between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman ended in shocking fashion when Silva sustained a horrific leg injury. The MMA world was in shock as the distinct possibility that Silva would never fight again sunk in. MMA fans, fighters, and journalists alike wished Silva a speedy recovery. After immediate surgery to fix the fracture, Silva begun his rehabilitation process. When Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta visited ‘The Spider’ he promised that he would return to the Octagon.
Fellow UFC and MMA legend, BJ Penn, is also returning to the Octagon later this year and he had a message for Silva. Penn, who is currently training at Nova Uniao with Jose Aldo and Renan Barao, sent his regards from Silva’s home country of Brazil. In the video Penn says that he supports Anderson in what ever he does and that he considers Anderson to be the best of all time.
Penn is currently training for his third fight with Frankie Edgar, but this time it will be fought at Featherweight. This will be Penn’s first fight at Featherweight, and his first fight since December 2012. Before the two men do battle inside the Octagon, they will coach against each other on The Ultimate Fighter Season 19.
