The Chicago Bulls are suffering through another season that has seen star point guard Derrick Rose lost to another knee injury. But while the Bulls will likely not get Rose back before next season, it appears that someone will.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Rose is planning on playing for Team USA this summer at the FIBA World Cup.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the court this summer and having the chance to represent our country,” Rose said. “It’s an honor to play for Team USA and Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski).”

This isn’t a guarantee that Rose will return this summer to play for Team USA, but it’s very likely that he will.

It’s not a secret that Rose wants to play for Team USA, as his torn ACL in 2012 prevented him from joining the London Olympic team that won the gold. This summer won’t be for an Olympic medal, but it’ll be a step towards Rose one day getting to that point.
