Earlier today, video of Phil Jackson on Fox Sports 1 surfaced, and it showed him talking about Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Jackson recalls a story of when the two players first met, and he said that Bryant told MJ that he could ‘kick your a–’ in one-on-one. This story has blown up all over the internet, and it doesn’t really shock anyone that Kobe would say that.

The one person it did shock was Kobe Bryant. He spoke to the media before the Lakers took on the Heat on Thursday, and he debunked this story, via the LA Daily News:

“That’s a bit of a myth,” Bryant said. “I’m a big [trash] talker. But Michael is too. It’s not something I sparked up out of the conversation out of the blue and said it to Mr. Jordan. You could imagine the conversation.”

No one knows what he really said besides those two, but Bryant isn’t taking the bait. These two have sparked a lot of debates and their legacies are forever connected. As Kobe Bryant nears the end of his career, I’m sure more stories like this will start to leak out.
