MLB Rumors: Ervin Santana may not get the contract that he's looking for

Right handed starting pitcher Ervin Santana had a specific contract in mind that he was hoping to pick up from just about anybody. He would likely want to be picked up by a playoff contender, but either way things aren’t looking that great for him.

Today the Milwaukee Brewers were able to come to an agreement with former Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza. The contract that the two parties were able to agree on is a four year, $52 million contract.

Santana is currently asking for a four year, $60 million contract, but the only downside of signing him is that you have to give up a first round draft pick.

Santana will get signed somewhere, but it may not be by a contender and it most likely won’t be for the type of money he’s been looking for this offseason.

It’s simple. Sign with the Royals. Even if it’s a year or two contract. If he’s still playing great and has zero desire to play in KC then we trade him away at the ASB and hopefully Ventura will be ready by then. I don’t see Zimmer being ready by then, but at least Ventura could be ready.

4/52 puts him in Royals’ range.

Josh Vernier said he’d probably end up with something in the range of 3 years/33 mil which would be even better for us.
