Earlier in the week, United States Olympic figure skater Ashley Wagner announced that she will be changing her long program for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia to a routine that helped her find success in the two previous years. Wagner is also changing her uniform for the Sochi Games, after struggling over the past few months.
While Wagner is hoping the changes can help her gain momentum, 2014 U.S. Figure Skating World Champion Gracie Gold has no plans to change a thing.
“No, I’m done changing. I’m good. I got it now,” Gold said, via the Los Angeles Times. “Been there, done that.”
Gold had a nearly flawless performance at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and finished in first place by a wide margin, so it comes as no surprise that she has chosen to keep things the same moving forward.
Gold plans to travel to Sochi on Saturday with her twin sister, Carly, and her mother, Denise. By getting there early, Gold will be able to get comfortable in the new environment so that she can be ready to go when it is time to hit the ice for the biggest competition of her life.
