College team offers Alex Rodriguez free donuts, $5K to coach them

While Alex Rodriguez is enjoying his Winter in Mexico, he’ll eventually return to the states where he’ll be jobless.

Now suspended for the entire regular season, A-Rod will need to figure out an activity to keep him busy. So how about a coaching career? That’s the hope of the Torrington Titans, a college summer baseball team in the New England-based Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

Granted, they can’t afford much, but they are willing to give Rodriguez upwards of $5,000 dollars for his time – and free donuts and coffee for the entire Summer courtesy of the local Donut Station.

“We can offer him $5,000 for the season,” said Titans General Manager Joey Abis. “The Donut Station has offered him free coffee and donuts for the entire summer.”

It’s just one of many silly offers Rodriguez has received in the past few weeks, though, this one actually seems to have a small touch of seriousness to it.

Titans Manager Dan McNamara said he’d like to put A-Rod in the hitting coach role, if he was to accept their offer. And frankly, who is going to turn down free donuts for a Summer?!
