The Arizona State Sun Devils landed a commitment from a wide receiver who could provide an instant impact in 2014.
Mission Viejo (Calif.) Saddleback Community College wide receiver Eric Lauderdale committed to Arizona State on Friday.
“They (ASU) are on the rise in my mind and they were a lot better this year,” Lauderdale told Justin Hopkins of 24/7 Sports. “I like the offense and I want to play in that type of offense. I got close with the coaches and I really respect what they are doing down there.”
The 6-2, 190-pound Lauderdale is considered the 18th best junior college prospect and the third best junior college wide receiver, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Many projected Lauderdale to sign with the Tennessee Volunteers, a school that once had his commitment, but he ruled them out and narrowed his list to to the Florida Gators and Arizona State before deciding on the Sun Devils. He officially visited the Sun Devils in Tempe, Arizona this weekend.
According to 24/7 Sports, Lauderdale said “he is 100-percent committed and done with the recruiting process.”
