MLB Rumors: A.J. Burnett still undecided about retirement

Pitchers and catchers are set to report to Minor League camps in less than a month. But free agent pitcher A.J. Burnett remains undecided about his future, this according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman who says Burnett has yet to decide if he plans to retire or not.

I say he better decide soon.

aj burnett still hasnt decided. he still has a bit of time, tho, as most free agent pitchers havent decided on teams yet.

Burnett has drawn interest from both the Pittsburgh Pirates (his former team) and the Baltimore Orioles. Both squads have waited on a decision from Burnett all offseason long.

It was rumored that Burnett would have accepted a one-year, $14.1 million dollar qualifying offer from the Pirate – had they extend such – but there simply wasn’t anyway a small market team like Pittsburgh could afford that type of number for a player like Burnett.

The Pirates have said they’ve ‘turned the page’ on Burnett but did say they’d ‘love to have him back’. The Orioles meanwhile ‘moved on’ a few weeks ago.
