The 6-4, 270-pound Gates gives Nebraska its second highest-rated commit. The top recruit on Nebraska’s board is Tanner Farmer (Highland Park, Ill. Highland Park) who should line up next to Gates and give Nebraska two cornerstones on their offensive line moving forward.

He took official visits to the Texas A&M Aggies, Oregon Ducks and last week to see the Arizona Wildcats. His official to Nebraska came on the weekend of Nov. 2 and on Tuesday welcomed head coach Bo Pelini for an in-home visit that sealed the deal for Gates and Nebraska.
Gates cited his relationship with his recruiters Barney Cotton and John Garrison as being the best relationship he had with any of the other coaches recruiting him.
Gates is the No. 294 recruit overall, No. 23 offensive tackle and the top recruit in the state of Nevada according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
