Adidas Golf sponsors "Shot at Glory" event at Farmers Insurance Open

After the completion of the third round at the Farmers Insurance Open, adidas Golf sponsored a charitable competition to celebrate the launching of its new adizero one footwear.

Seven participants were given the opportunity to win up to $96,000 for Pro Kids – The First Tee San Diego by holing a 96-yard wedge shot on the eighteenth hole.  Gary McCord and Nick Faldo participated, as did 15-year-old Norman Xiong of Pro Kids.

The highlight of the competition was Norman Xiong hitting a shot onto the green, thereby winning $10,000 for Pro Kids – The First Tee of San Diego.  Pro Kids is dedicated to promoting education and character development among children in San Diego.  The organization includes a learning center, and First Tee program, which allows children to learn life skills through the game of golf.

McCord and Faldo hosted the “Shot at Glory,” and put on a show for the nearly two thousand spectators surrounding the 18th green.

Gary Martin of Farmers Insurance hit the best shot of the event.  His ball landed on the back shelf, and stopped 20 feet from the hole on the green.  His shot won $500 for Birdies for Charity.*
