Lightning C Steven Stamkos cleared for light contact

Tampa Bay Lightning center and alternate captain Steven Stamkos has been working to return from a broken leg that has had him on the sideline. On Saturday morning, the Lightning received some good news when Stamkos was finally cleared for light contact and able to take the ice.

While Stamkos is still forced to wear the yellow light contact jersey, it is a big step forward for his return to the team.

From Erik Erlendsson, Lightning beat writer for the Tampa Tribune:

Stamkos suffered his broken leg against the Boston Bruins two and a half months ago, and now his return appears to be nearing.

There is still no timetable for his return, but there is a strong belief that he could return to the ice right before or after the NHL takes their Olympic break.
