It appears as if the Detroit Tigers are set with their roster, minus a few minor tweaks here and there.
The Tigers have been linked to a handful of potential name targets like Nelson Cruz, but general manager Dave Dombrowski recently suggested that he would be shocked if there were any major moves to happen for the remainder of the offseason.
That would essentially mean Cruz or any other player the Tigers reportedly had interest in, won’t be signing in Motown.
Dombrowski asked about Nelson Cruz. Won’t address him specifically but said, “I’d be surprised if we made any major moves.”
Of course, it’s completely possible that Dombrowski didn’t want to show his cards and is attempting to bluff fellow competition on the free agent wire or possibly agents in hopes that a player will reduce their asking price, though, that seems unlikely.
The Tigers, despite the loss of Prince Fielder, should have no trouble competing for another trip to the American League Championship with or without a player like Cruz on their roster.
