MLB Rumors: Texas Rangers not expected to sign Michael Young

If Michael Young continues to play baseball this season, it won’t be for the Texas Rangers.

The veteran infielder has spent nearly his entire Major League career with the Rangers before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies (after which he landed with the Los Angeles Dodgers).

Now a free agent, there was talk of a potential reunion but the Rangers have seemingly moved on, suggesting that they will look for internal options to deal with their backup infield issues.

Daniels asked about bringing back Michael Young. Says club has talked about it, but expects the utility spot to be internal.

Young, who is also being courted by the Los Angeles Dodgers has hinted that he’s pondering potential retirement as he’d like to spend more time with his family. That’s part of the reason Young had interest in the Rangers considering the veteran keeps a home in the area, but that boat has apparently sailed.

A few other teams are also interested in Young, who will continue to ponder retirement as Spring Training nears.
