Earlier this season, rumors out of Cleveland suggested that second year guard Dion Waiters had become a locker room problem. There was never any confirmation of such outside of a few minor comments from teammates suggesting he needed to be a little more team friendly.
Regardless, Waiters has remained in Cleveland and likely will remain there past the upcoming NBA trade deadline, this according to Mary Schmitt Boyer.
I would not characterize Waiters as disruptive. He can be moody when things are not going well, but given how things are going, that might be understandable. I think there are 29 teams that would be interested in acquiring someone who can score like he does, which is why I think the Cavs will hold onto him unless they get an amazing offer.
Waiters isn’t exactly playing out of the gym right now and given his ‘moody’ personality, it’s doubtful any team is going to offer much for him – let alone a deal that would knock the socks of Cleveland’s front office. Barring something strange, expect Waiters to remain with the Cavaliers moving forward.
