I find it a little hard pressed to think the Los Angeles Lakers wouldn’t be involved if their salary cap situation allows it, but regardless it’s clear there are only a select few with the chance to sign (or keep) James when he decides to opt-out of his contract.
Some believe James plans to do just that at season end but the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting otherwise, suggesting that the ‘newest theory’ is James will remain with the Heat this offseason and opt-out after the 2014-2015 season.
The latest theory is that James will not opt out this summer but will finish his contract in Miami and become a free agent in the summer of 2015.
Where exactly the Plain Dealer got their theory is unknown, though there are few places more interested in the potential whereabouts than Cleveland and the Plain Dealer still has plenty of sources hooked up from James’ time as a member of the Cavaliers.
Understandably it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s very interesting considering the source.
