Ironically, that sentiment was quickly followed by Durant exploding offensively, putting up multiple games where he scored near (or over) 50 points.
Then came Friday night at Madison Square Garden where Carmelo Anthony put up 62 points of his own, which now has LeBron James eying his own scoring outburst.
James recently told Michael Wallace he may try to score 60 or 70 points in an upcoming game:
LeBron says he may try to go for his own 60-pt moment one these day after seeing Melo and Durant. LeBron says his teammates would have to essentially beg or threaten him to keep going for 60 or 70 after he’d hit 50.
It’s difficult to tell if James was being sincere or just attempting to bestow a compliment on the other two players for their impressive performances, though, we all know James likes a challenge.
