On Friday afternoon, the third school shooting in less than a week occurred on the campus of South Carolina State University and the shooting turned fatal.
The victim was identified as a South Carolina State football player, defensive lineman Brandon Robinson.
Robinson, 20, was shot outside of a dorm complex on campus and taken to the local hospital, before succumbing to the injuries that he suffered.
“We are saddened by the loss of one of our own students,” university President Thomas J. Elzey said in a statement. “Our deepest condolences go to the family of the victim.”
Police have yet to provide a motive for the murder, but they have said that they are searching for four suspects.
Robinson was an industrial engineering technology major, who played in nine games this year while recording five tackles.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Robinson’s friends and family, and everyone on the South Carolina State campus who was affected by this horrible tragedy.
