UFC on FOX 10 prelims results: Alex Caceres submits Sergio Pettis in incredible fight; Eddie Wineland wins via TKO

UFC on FOX 10 is underway, and the prelims are setting the tone for the event. In the main event of the prelims, Alex Caceres and Sergio Pettis square off in a battle of Bantamweight prospects. Also featured on the prelims is the former #1 Bantamweight contender, Eddie Wineland, taking on the savvy veteran, Yves Jabouin.

Sergio Pettis, the younger brother of UFC Champion Anthony Pettis, is looking to make a name for himself inside the Octagon. After an impressive debut victory over Will Campuzano, Pettis will look to make a statement tonight and stake his claim as a Bantamweight contender. Caceres, the TUF 12 contestant, will look to keep his winning streak alive and put himself into the Bantamweight rankings with a win over Pettis.

Alex Caceres vs. Sergio Pettis
The first round was evenly matched on the feet to start off. Pettis was the more active fighter, but could not hurt Caceres in the beginning. Caceres landed two right hooks, but Pettis answered with a head kick. Pettis was able to land more frequently with head kicks and straight punches. At the end of the round, Pettis was able to land a head kick and some powerful shots on Caceres. Caceres answered with a spinning back fist as the round ended. Huge left hands rocks and drops Pettis early on in the second round. Pettis was able to survive and get back to his feet. Pettis answered with a right hook of his own. The rest of the round was very closely contested on the feet. Caceres was throwing wild strikes, while Pettis was landing head kicks and punches. Pettis missed an attempted wheel kick. The round ends with both men attempting ninja like kicks. The third round began with a hard body kick from Caceres, but Pettis was able to get him down. Caceres got back to his feet with a kimura sweep. After some more incredible striking exchanges, Caceres took Pettis down. After a wild scramble, Pettis got back to his feet. Both men are throwing everything they can come up with. The pace slowed down towards the end of the fight, but Caceres got a late takedown. Pettis attacked with a heel hook, but could not finish it. Caceres transitioned into back mount and sunk in the fight ending rear naked choke with 30 seconds left. Incredible fight and display from both men.

Yves Jabouin vs. Eddie Wineland
The entire first round was contested on the feet. Wineland was able to land some shots from the outside, but Jabouin landed a powerful head kick and check left hook. Jabouin was utilizing kicks very well as Wineland was looking to close the distance with some powerful shots. The second round was Jabouin continuing to utilize an array of leg kicks. A right hand from Jabouin opened up a nasty cut on top of Wineland’s head. Wineland hurt Jabouin with a 1-2, but Jabouin continued to press forward. Jabouin landed a powerful high kick, but Wineland walked right through it. Wineland dropped Jabouin immediately after with a straight right. Wineland lands in full mount and is raining down heavy ground and pound. After numerous unanswered shots, the ref steps in to stop the fight.
Official Decision: Eddie Wineland defeats Yves Jabouin by TKO Round 2 (4:16)

Chico Camus vs. Yaotzin Meza
The first round began with Camus providing pressure on Meza attacking with big power punches. Meza was able to get Camus locked up on the fence and landed some knees and punches before Meza was able to get Camus down. Camus landed a beautiful reversal, and landed in Meza’s full guard. Camus was unable to land anything significant on top, and the referee stood them up with 10 seconds left in the round. Round 2 began with a hard left hand from Camus that dropped Meza. Incredibly, Meza hit a sweep of his own and landed on top of Camus. Meza could not do anything on top, and the referee stood them up again. Camus landed a big overhand right and took Meza down. Camus was able to get the full mount on Meza, and then transition to his back while looking for a submission. Meza was able to stand up and shake Camus off his back. The third round began with a Meza high kick, but Camus was able to get him down again. Ultimately, Camus got full mount again and transitioned back and forth from mount to back mount. Camus had a rear naked choke opportunity, but could not finish the fight.
Official Decision: Chico Camus defeats Yaotzin Meza by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
