Reports surfaced on Sunday morning that Florida State transfer Jacob Coker had agreed to join the Alabama Crimson Tide program, and now Alabama has confirmed the signing of the 6-foot-5, pro-style quarterback.
Alabama sent out a press release Sunday afternoon to announce the official news.
“We think a lot of Jake and we are excited to have him join our team,” said head coach Nick Saban in a statement. “He is not only an outstanding football player, but he is also a fine young man who we feel will be a great fit with our program at Alabama.”
Coker, who will graduate in the spring, will be joining the Alabama football team for spring ball where he will immediately compete for the starting job.
“I was very impressed with everything on my visit to Tuscaloosa,” said Coker. “I feel very comfortable with the coaches and the players, and I’m looking forward to getting started at Alabama and competing. I also want to thank my coaches and teammates at Florida State. I had a great experience there and I’m excited to build on that at Alabama.”
Coker will have two years of eligibility remaining.
