College Hockey: RPI Upsets No. 3 Union, leads to brawl and coaches fight (Video)

College hockey doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves and sometimes it is unfortunate that when they do it is because of something like this. RPI and Union, two fierce rivals, were playing in a chippy game when RPI Upset No. 3 Union. As the game ended there was a post-game brawl that included coaches swinging at one another on the ice.

From the Albany Times Union:

Two RPI and two Union players have been suspended one game for fighting at the end of the Engineers’ 2-1 victory Saturday at Times Union Center.

For Union, center Eli Lichtenwald and defenseman (and captain) Mat Bodie will sit out Friday’s game at St. Lawrence. For RPI, center Mike Zalewski and defenseman Luke Curadi will miss Friday’s game at Clarkson.

A total of 125 penalty minutes were assessed for the fight.
