Gaffney High School beats Boiling Springs in OT with only three players

I mean, they do say three is the magic number.

So Gaffney High School found itself in a bit of a pickle during Friday night’s game against Boiling Springs. A benches-clearing brawl in the second quarter resulted in a slew of ejections, leaving Gaffney with only four available players for the remainder of the game. One of those players, Hyleck Foster, fouled out with 1.4 seconds remaining in regulation, meaning Gaffney had to play the overtime with a mere three players.

They ended up winning 83-81.

WSPA has footage of the brawl and the game’s highlights:

Gaffney eked out the victory thanks in large part to the efforts of L.J. Peak. The 6-foot-5 Peak, who will be playing his college ball for the Georgetown Hoyas, finished the game with 36 points. Peak, considered by some to be the best prospect in the state of South Carolina, had a 58-point performance in a loss earlier this month.
