Tonight at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards history was made. We go the single closest thing that we will ever see to a full on Beatles reunion.
Sir Paul McCartney and his longtime band mate Ringo Starr took to the stage to perform McCartney’s song “Queenie Eye” from his album New.
Now, while it was not the reunion that some of us would have hoped for, like a rendition of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” or “With A Little Help From My Friends;” however, fans of the Beatles will take what they can get while they still can.
As most of you know, John Lennon was tragically shot and killed by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980. Fellow Beatle George Harrison lost his battle with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer on November 29, 2001. This makes McCartney and Starr the only two surviving members of the legendary rock band.
There is no denying that bands like The Beatles paved the way for artists today. Their music is nothing short of groundbreaking and will be revered by audiences both in the United States, but all around the world for many years to come.
Here is a look at the two legendary musicians onstage after their performance tonight.
