LL Cool J made a very valid point in his opening for tonight’s Grammy Awards. He said that music is used as a conduit to tell a story. This could not possibly be a more true statement. Sometimes that story is of happiness, sometimes it is of sadness, and just sometimes (ok, maybe a little more than sometimes, but you get the point) it is used as a method of “revenge”.
Well, we all know that one Taylor Swift has written more than one, or maybe five, songs about the men who have spurned her in the past. She is rumored to have written songs about her relationships with everyone from the Twilight Saga‘s Taylor Lautner to singer/songwriter John Mayer. She has never been one to reveal the identity of who said songs are about, or even which songs are actually about said people, but sometimes things like that are better left to conjecture.
In any case, during LL’s opening, he took the time to acknowledge Taylor’s reputation for using her music for this means of expression, and told all the parents out there to teach their children right, and for all the young men out there to treat women right, or else.
I think it is safe to say that Taylor agrees with this sentiment.
So, there you have it. Treat your significant other with respect or that next big radio hit may just be about you.
