Lindsay Vonn had to drop out of competing in the 2014 Sochi Olympics because of a knee injury that will not be healthy enough for her to compete for gold in the downhill skiing events but she will still be a par of the games as a correspondent for NBC, according to deadline.com.
“Vonn will appear leading up to and throughout the Games on both NBC Sports’ coverage and on Today as a correspondent. Last week, NBC Olympics executive producer Jim Bell revealed that the network had been in talks with Vonn over participating in the coverage that begins February 6.”
With NBC mainstays Bob Costsas, Al Michaels and Dan Patrick large parts of the Olympic coverage for the network, the addition of Vonn will bring a certain added dimension to the broadcast that these hall-of-fame broadcasters can not and appeal to a younger audience.
Vonn, the girlfriend of Tiger Woods, will discuss her role with NBC and provide an update on her rehab after withdrawing from the games earlier this month on Tuesday’s edition of NBC Today, according to The Sports Bank.
