New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Eric Gordon finally appears to be healthy.
However, with the emergence of Brian Roberts, rumors of the Pelicans trying to trade Gordon (and guard Tyreke Evans) continue to fly.
“Individually, I think I can give more, do more,” Gordon said after practice Monday, one day after his 14 points helped the Pelicans win for the third time in four games via the Associated Press. “People here think I should be this big-time 20-point (per game) scorer. This is more of a team game here, this system here. It’s a different adjustment. For me, now it’s all about playing as many games as possible and getting my body back to being used to playing an 82-game season, because I haven’t had that in almost two to three years now.”
People probably believe Gordon should be a “big-time 20-point scorer” because that’s exactly what he was when he broke into the league with the Los Angeles Clippers. Instead, Gordon is averaging 15.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
The Pelicans are probably just happy that Gordon is actually on the court.
