Queen Latifah has certainly been a busy lady as of recently. Fresh off of marrying 33 couples at last night’s 56th Annual Grammy Awards during Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ performance of their hit song “Same Love,” Latifah has already got her next appearance in the books, Super Bowl XLVIII.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress, singer, and rapper is scheduled to perform the song “America The Beautiful” during the pregame festivities of Super Bowl XLVII.
As you already know, everything is scheduled to go down on Sunday, February 2nd at MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and New York Jets, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
This is not the first time Queen Latifah has graced the Super Bowl stage. Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, performed the very same song at Super Bowl XLIV just four years ago.
The pregame festivities will also include the singing of our National Anthem. This year, the honor of singing our National Anthem goes to New York born opera singer Renée Fleming.
What most people are looking forward to, besides a good game between Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks and the inevitable rantings of Richard Sherman, is the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
This year, the halftime show will be helmed by Grammy Award winning artist Bruno Mars, who picked up the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for Unorthodox Jukebox at last night’s 56th Annual Grammy Awards. He will be joined by the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The pregame festivities, including the Anthem and “America The Beautiful” are scheduled to air prior to kickoff.
Super Bowl XLVIII is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. on Fox.
