This weekend the UFC is New Jersey for their annual ‘Super Bowl weekend’ event. UFC 169 is headlined by the Bantamweight title rematch between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao. Barao, the newly minted undisputed UFC Bantamweight champion, is looking to beat Faber for a second time and earn his first title defense as the undisputed champ. Faber, who is coming off four victories in 2013, will have his third chance at UFC gold this Saturday night.
Dominick Cruz, the former UFC Bantamweight champion, was set to return to the Octagon at UFC 169 after a very long injury layoff. Unfortunately for Cruz, he tore his groin in training, and was once again forced to sit on the sideline to mend his injury. The UFC was forced to strip Cruz of his Bantamweight title, and Renan Barao went from interim to undisputed UFC Bantamweight champion.
Cruz’s arch nemesis, Urijah Faber, took the championship fight on just three week’s notice. Faber, who is training all year round at Team Alpha Male, has said that he never lets opportunities pass him by and he is ready to win the title this Saturday night.
In preparation of the mammoth event, the UFC has produced a UFC 169 countdown show. In the video above, watch the main event portion of the show as the UFC crew documents the life, training, and hard work of the two men in the main event.
